Tony Bennett; A Final Thought

Somehow when I wrote about my experiences with Tony Bennett while working in Atlantic City and posting parts of the special the two of us did, I neglected to include the very end of the piece.

I post it now in part because it includes Tony’s signature song but also because the words Tony says, he lived over the last 18 years.

At the time Tony was 65 and I asked him about slowing down. It’s somewhat comical when you consider it came just as his career was about to explode in a new direction appealing to a younger audience, appearing on The Simpsons, MTV and picking up a handful of new Grammys.

You could argue the true wonder of Tony’s career came in what came after the following question.
